On September 29, 2009 we had an early release in-service day. The staff in our building had the option of attending one of three workshops: Achievement Series, Movie Maker/VoiceThread, and Shutterfly/Glogster (which is what I took part in).
The first half of my in-service was for Shutterfly. I had all of the participants either set up a Shutterfly account or log into their account and then showed them how they could use Shutterfly to set up a website through what Shutterfly calls shared sites. All of the participants that attended were there to set up a website and so worked on that. Towards the end of our Shutterfly time, I demonstrated the privacy options that can be set on a Shutterfly site and then how they could set up a blog or threaded discussion in Shutterfly.
We also then used some of that in-service time for Glogster. (www.edu.glogster.com). I have teachers in my building who are hungry for new Web 2.0 tools to use but tend to shy away from those in which kids need to use an email address. Glogster is perfect for that. I have created this "cheat" sheet for the teachers in my building to use along with their kids when using Glogster and shared this at our in-service.
